Whether you are a first time jumper or an experienced jumper you may be asking yourself Why Choose Jumptown? Why us over all the other qualified jump facilities in New England.
Jumptown has just built a brand new state of the art skydiving facility. This facility was built solely for the purpose of skydiving and is one of a kind in New England. We have separate facilities for all aspects of the skydiving community which allows everyone all the finer comforts that they all deserve.
For the tandem student we have a tandem reception area where you can sit in air conditioned comfort while you fill out your forms and wait for your skydive to take place along with a separate tandem training area so you have complete privacy and are free from distraction from the outside world while training with your class. We have picnic tables, vending machines, bathroom facilities and a one of a kind spectator area where your family and friends can get a close up view of your departure and landing.
We now have a new food service on site serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and snacks for those of you who would like to make a day of it. If you get video of your jump watch your video on our big screen tv before leaving so you can relive the experience right away. Let your family and friends watch too so they see they exhilarating part of your experience up close that they did not get to see from the ground.
For corporations or large groups we are the perfect set up. Plenty of room, separate areas where your group can hang out together
and picnic while watching the rest of your group train, depart and land. Make it even easier on yourself and give us a call about a catered lunch for your group. Whether you feel more comfortable waiting and hanging out inside or out we have plenty of space to accommodate your needs. Before you leave watch each other? videos on our big screen tv and relive your thrilling moment with your friends and coworkers.
For the Accelerated Freefall student we have it all. We have full time staff set aside just for your needs and are able to take you through the entire program at a pace that best suits your needs. Whether you want to get through the program quickly and do as many jumps as possible in a four day period or you want to spread it out over weekends or you want to take your time and do one jump a weekend we have all the staff required to meet your needs. No more sitting around a drop zone waiting for the tandems to go up first so you get your turn to make a jump. You will be priority from the minute you walk through the door and the AFF staff will be there to accommodate you.
We also have it all for the experienced jumper no matter what your experience level or favorite discipline. We have brand new bathroom and shower facilities, indoor and outdoor packing, grass landing area, barbecue grills, on site food service, picnic tables, members lounge with big screen tv, full kitchen facilities, etc, departure viewer so you can see 5 loads out on the manifest, outdoor patio with fire pit for evening festivities, children? playground, etc. Our building is state of the art and has been years in the making.
Jumptown caters to the experienced jumpers and you will not find us bumping you off loads to give tandems priority. We need you as much as we need the tandems. You are important to us. We have made it our priority to try to accommodate all your needs and we have organizers and events scheduled throughout the season for everyone. Please check our calendar at www.jumptown.com to see what we have planned and keep checking it on a regular basis because we add events all the time.
We have RW organizers every weekend for beginners through the very experienced. We have Boxman, Gary Pond, Dave Parody, Tom McLaughlin, Dennis O?oughlin, Sue Rook and Skip Kniley to name a few.
For the freeflyers we have Dave Brown one weekend a month and Paul Jackson will be available throughout the season for organizing and coaching. We have some exciting events on the calendar for beginners and for experienced freeflyers so don? miss out.
For the CRW dawgs we have Keith Thivierge and Eduardo Guillen available for coaching and organizing on various weekends throughout the summer.
We also have swooping events, canopy control classes, various seminars and learning opportunities, and lots of fun barbecues and events spread out throughout the season and we would love to have you join us.
And last but not least Jumptown prides itself on its safety record and does everything in its power to keep you safe. Even in the skydiving community which is already heavily regulated by the United States Parachute Association, The Federal Aviation Administration and Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission Jumptown goes a step above and requires even more.
In addition to the recurrency dives that all of our staff are required to make in order to keep their licenses up to date we also require all of our staff to do complex evaluation dives with our Safety and Training Advisors to make sure that their flying skills are above average and deserving of our student? trust. Our tandem masters have participated in a one of a kind training program with Scott Miller (a highly respected canopy skills expert in the skydiving community) to keep their skills as finally honed as possible. We think our staff is the best in the business and we aim to make sure that they stay that way.
Our aircraft owner also requires very high standards for his aircraft and his pilots and is meticulous about the maintenance on our aircraft. He also runs a one of a kind Twin Otter training school every season where the pilots are required to go through a rigorous retraining program in order to fly for him and therefore for us.
Jumptown also has the luxury of being located at a municipal airport with a new runway put in two years ago by grant money from the Federal Aviation Administration. The airport and runways are meticulously maintained by the Town of Orange and through grant money from the Federal Aviation Administration. The Orange Municipal Airport has the distinction of being built back in the World War II era and was built as an alternate airport for the military so that means we are the only non-military airport in New England with multiple 5,000 foot runways. Longer runways are safer for many reasons larger aircraft need longer runways to take off properly, take offs and landings are easier for the pilot to maneuver, plenty of time for emergency procedures, etc. In an aircraft emergency the multiple 5000 foot runways gives the pilot multiple options to bring the aircraft back to the airport in a safe condition which is not an option at many other smaller, shorter and single runway airports.
Jumptown has been in operation since 1958 and we are a club dedicated to having a good time and promoting skydive for all who are interested. Give us a try. We are sure you will not be disappointed.
