| Frequently Asked Questions |
| Do I need a reservation? |
| Reservations are strongly suggested in order for is to provide you with
first-class service. A $50 deposit is required per person in order to book a
reservation. Your deposit is forfeited if you cancel less than 48 hours before
your scheduled jump. Cancellations for groups of 5 or more people must be received
one week in advance or your deposit will be forfeited. |
 |
| Will I need to fill out any paperwork? |
| All persons must sign a liability release form before jumping
from any aircraft at Jumptown. |
 |
| What methods of payment do you accept? |
| PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED FOR THE BALANCE OF YOUR SKYDIVE. On
the day of your jump you will be required to pay your balance with cash or credit
card only. For your convenience, we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American
Express. |
 |
| Is there an age limitation? |
| You must be 18 years of age or older in order to make a skydive. We are very sorry,
but we cannot allow anyone younger to jump even if his or her parents are willing to
sign a release form. There is no upper limit, as long as you are in good physical
condition. We recommend a physician's approval if you are over 65. |
 |
| What shape do I need to be in? |
| Skydiving is an active sport and you need to be in reasonable physical condition to enjoy it. Some weight limits do apply.
We strictly enforce weight limits for the safety of everyone involved. If you arrive at the airport and your weight is in question you will be asked to weigh in.
The limit is 250 lbs. for AFF classes. The weight limit for tandems is 235 lbs.
(plus or minus 10% depending on height to weight ratio, weather conditions, proper fitting
of equipment, etc.). We reserve the right to refuse you service if we feel your weight
or physical condition puts you or your instructor at any additional risk. |
 |
| How long will my jump take? |
| For a tandem skydive, plan on at least half a day. The time of your appointment is the time
you are to arrive at Jumptown. It is not the actual time of your jump. For the first AFF jump you will need
to be here for four hours the evening before and the entire next day. It may not take
that long for your jump but it is better to be prepared. Please don't make any time
constraint plans for the evening; this just causes you frustration and anxiety if we
have any delays. The priority on this sport is safety - not time! So bring a book,
bring a Frisbee, bring a lunch - but please plan on spending some time here. Gas grills
and picnic tables are available for your use during the day. |
 |
| How does the weather affect my jump? |
| Skydiving is a weather dependent sport. If the clouds are too low, if it is raining or
it is very windy you may not be able to jump that particular day. Please call 1-800-890-JUMP
before you drive out if you have questions about the weather and how it will affect
your jumps. AFF classes will run on schedule regardless of the weather. Please do
not assume if the weather is bad where you are that the conditions are the
same in Orange. We often have a very different weather pattern than Boston,
for example. |
 |
| What should I bring? |
| We will provide everything you will need for your jump - jumpsuit, goggles,
helmet, etc. A current photo I.D. must be presented before you will be
allowed to jump. |
 |
| What should I wear? |
| Please dress in comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. Shorts and t-shirts, jeans or
sweats are fine. We suggest you do not wear nylon shorts or pants since the harness will
slip around on the material and chafe your skin. Please wear a pair of sturdy sneakers,
such as running shoes. |
 |
| Should I eat before I jump? |
| We do not recommend jumping on an empty stomach, nor do we recommend jumping with
a really full stomach. Just try to eat something light. |
 |
| Can I bring my family and friends to watch? |
| Spectators are more than welcome and encouraged. They can make themselves
comfortable in our shaded spectator viewing area and watch the skydivers land right
in front of them. Binoculars are suggested for added viewing options. Children
are welcome but must be carefully watched to keep them out of high-risk areas. Bringing
a dog is not recommended but if you do it must be kept on a leash at all times. |
 |
| Can we bring a cooler or lunch? |
| We encourage you to bring a picnic lunch or snacks. Gas grills and picnic
tables are available for your use upon request. We do have bottled water, soft
drinks and snacks available for sale at the drop zone as well. |
 |
| Can we bring alcoholic beverages to drink? |
| Absolutely NOT! We are located on a municipal airport and the consumption
of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited. |
 |
| Can we stay overnight? |
| We have a limited amount of space available for overnight or weekend camping.
Please call in advance if you would like to reserve tenting or camping space.
Sorry but we do not have electrical hookups for RV's. Restrooms and hot showers are
located in the main building. We also have 3 motels within a 10-minute drive of
Jumptown.
